HOW TO STORE YOUR OPT-IN FREEBIE ON YOUR SQUARESPACE WEBSITE
Have you used your Squarespace website to upload and share files before? In the video below I share a simple way to upload and keep your mailing list opt-in freebie file in the backend of your Squarespace website, enabling you to have your freebie accessible online via its own unique link. You will also find some instructions with screenshots for reference below the video to help you out.
This video applies to Squarespace Version 7 and Squarespace Version 7.1. Published 22 January 2020.
A step by step summary on how to add a file upload to a text link
When in the page editor go to the text block that you would like to apply the link.
Select/highlight the text you want to apply the link to.
Click the link icon in the text editor, as circled in red on image 1, this will open a small pop-up.
Click the settings wheel, as circled in red on image 2, this will open a larger pop-up.
Within the Link Editor go to the headline named ‘File’, click ‘Upload File’, this will take you to your computer to select the file you would like to upload.
Once the file appears below the search bar in Link Editor you will need to click it once to select this file to be associated with the link, a tick will appear to the left of the file name to indicate that the file has been selected.
Make sure that you turn on the option to ‘Open in New Window’.
Save and then apply the link, you will see an underline appear in relation to the text where you have created the link.
Save from the page editor to complete, then test, the file you uploaded will open in a new window when you click the link.
The above steps can also be applied to an image and a button link with some minor differences per the block type, the Link Editor remains the same for all options.
