Some of these tips will work for any web platform, but I get really specific on what you can do for your Squarespace website in particular to up your SEO game. You will also find some screenshots for reference below the video to help you out. Is your site optimised for SEO? If not get on it quick smart!

FYI: I had to cut the vid a tad shorter so it would upload for IGTV, don’t worry, the only thing missing is my little farewell at the end, all the important stuff is there!

This video applies to Squarespace Version 7 and Squarespace Version 7.1. Published 18 September 2019.

Area’s you can apply SEO to your Squarespace website at a glance…

Apply SEO to the back-end of your Squarespace website by going to > Marketing > SEO. In SEO Title Format add in keywords and phrases, in the SEO Site Description area add in a sentence or two constructed to include keywords, key phrases and possible location tags.

Apply SEO to your individual website pages in Squarespace by going to > Pages > opening your page settings for each individual page > go to SEO and enter you SEO Title for the page that is keyword rich, meaning you may want to write something lengthier than the actual page title. Then entering an SEO Description for the page that is page specific and constructed to include keywords and phrases within a sentence format.

Apply SEO to your individual blog posts in Squarespace by going to > Pages > Blog page > opening your blog settings for each individual blog > go to SEO and enter your SEO Title for the page that is keyword rich, in this case my title is already sufficient so I haven’t added a new title. Then enter an SEO Description for the blog post that is post specific constructed to include keywords and phrases within a sentence format.

Apply SEO to your images by ensuring the ‘Filenames’ are well constructed to include keywords and phrases. Also add in your image description in the ‘Image Alt Text’ section, these are hidden from view but will work for accessibility for those that are sight impaired.
